non-working fireplace

Ever wonder what to do with a fireplace that doesn't work and you don't have the money to get it working again?  We have two fireplaces right now that don't work and I'm always trying to find good ideas for them.  See the latest ideas I'm deciding between...

restoration hardware

As I'm sure most of you have, I just received the Restoration Hardware Fall 2011Source Book.  Typically Restoration Hardware overall is a little too "traditional" for me, I can find a few good pieces but it never really was a huge draw for me design wise.  But as I was flipping through this massive book I found a few inspiring rooms that I had to share in case you were left off this mailing list...
Ok so there is a lot going on here but I like the play with scale.  Although the sofa is very tufted it's simple in shape and low to the ground which works with the large tailored collage of artwork above.  I even like the scale of the large chandeliers hanging low to the ground instead of using end table lamps.  Overall I think this is a very creatively done room.

I like the masculinity in this room, especially the very modern chaise's done in a warn leather to make them look lived in and comfortable.

Again, there is a lot going on here but I like the symmetry and love the floor lamps.

It would be fun to design a bar like this, again masculine, but this room has more of a simplicity which I am typically drawn to and also very industrial.

Love!  Gray and white, my favorite.

new color palette

I love the idea of this color combination.  Kelly green, white with little pops of red.  I can't wait to use this in a hotel, but until then I guess I'll just have to wear white while I stand next to green foliage with red lipstick on.

friday

I love this kitchen it's un-done yet polished and the one pop of kelly green chairs adds a quirkiness that just completes it.

HAPPY FRIDAY!
It's been a great week, thanks to everyone for reading!

trench coats

I have always wanted a classic trench coat but have never found the right one at a price I was willing to pay.  I always end up not making the purchase due to the small weather window you can actually wear the trench here in Denver.  It's hard to invest in a wardrobe for the unpredictable spring and fall.  With that being said we are being inundated with all the fall fashion right now and so I thought you'd like to dream about your perfect trench along with me.  Take a look at some of my current favorites...

I saved my favorite for last, this one feels updated yet retro with the fuller skirt.

my home continued

Here's just a few more pictures I want to show you of my home before we move onto more exciting topics...

living room
I go back and forth on the artwork, I made it myself so for whatever reason it has never been my favorite

living room
We love this sofa, on movie nights we push the ottoman into the sofa and everyone has a chaise lounge!

office
It was really tough to get a picture of the office, but here you go.  The guest room was even harder so until I can get one that actually shows something this is all of my home you get to see.

my home

It's almost coming up on the one year anniversary of our new-ish home.  I came accross some photos of what the house looked like before we moved in and how it looks now, I love the changes...said in the most modest way possible.

THE BEFORE PHOTOS:
bare with me, it gets better...

living room
clearly this was staging furniture

 fireplace/dining
loved the wood floors...hated the light yellow walls

dining room
I do like the fact that they have barstools at the bar.  I guess I need to add barstools to the "to shop for" list, I feel like this list should be getting smaller but it's just not.

kitchen
You won't see any after pictures of the kitchen because it's basically the same but with gray walls.  The kitchen was fully remodeled prior to us purcahsing the home so although we would have done it differently it's not changing at this point.
