winter wedding wednesday

Today I thought I'd showcase some great invitation and save the date designs to get the juices flowing.  A lot of these are advertised as DIY invitations that might just save a lot of money, either way there are some great concepts ...

Cute for a winter wedding's save the date card.

Unique

I like that these invitations look professional but with that extra handmade touch.

I know, fireflies, not great for a winter wedding but I just loved this invitation and
had to share!

Simplistic and great for a mountain wedding, I think this might be my fave.

Adorable with a sense of humor

Which is your favorite?

get your lash on!

I love eyelashes!  Make-up companies always have a hold over me when they advertise for big luscious lashes.  If anyone has any great secrets to make your lashes look like these, please share!

As you can see I love all different ways of amping up the eyelash, it all works for me!

green decor

Hello there! I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting—a go-to online source for lighting fixtures in all styles and finishes from kitchen to bathroom lights. Today, I’m bringing you a guest post featuring green décor. Green is one of my favorite colors as it brings the feel of nature indoors. I love my work. I get to write about interior design every day and share my posts with blog readers like you. I hope you enjoy the post! Thanks to Design Delite for letting me visit with you today.

Green Decor
A lovely lime green door is cheerful and welcoming. Doesn’t it make you curious to see what’s on the other side?

Green Decor
I really like this cheery chartreuse space especially with its tufted tuxedo sofa. I wonder what the rest of the room looks like.

Green Decor
This living room is so pretty with its green walls, soaring ceiling and antique velvet sofa. Its modern furnishings, including two low-slung chairs and contemporary floor lamp, give the space an eclectic feel.

Green Decor
A pretty tufted sofa and little metal tables in Kelly green give a rustic room a bit of cheer. The large bamboo infuses the space with a natural vibe.

Green Decor
The green tile in this eclectic bathroom looks like jade against the industrial concrete walls. I love the quirky little wall sconces. Wouldn't you love to have a nice long bath in that soaking tub?

Green Decor
What a delightful bedroom! Can’t you just imagine waking up to the sun streaming in the windows making the room all aglow?

Green Decor
A library gets its own coat of mint green paint covering walls and bookcases. The architectural detailing is divine.

Green Decor
I cheated on this one, but couldn’t resist including it. The conservatory ceiling looks so whimsical with a climbing vine growing towards the light. There’s no need for a light fixture in this space!  Images 12 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

winter wedding wednesday on thursday

Well Wednesday clearly got away from me, my apoligies.  Let's talk flowers for the wedding, here were some images that I found that could work, what do you think?

Very woodsy for a mountain wedding

Very pretty with the leaf circling the vase, but feels like spring

This is a really fun idea for the bouquet especially for a winter wedding, I don't think this works as well
for Casie but it was so pretty I had to share it.

So pretty, all white with just a touch of blue
I just love peonies!

a floating home in seattle

Ever since the movie Sleepless in Seattle it has been a secret dream of mine to live in a floating house in Seattle.  This week Houzz posted an article about such a home:
This house has a great industrial style sitting right on the water.

"A spiral staircase leads from the first floor to the roof deck. Putting it on the exterior meant they didn't lose any second-floor space to another staircase."

"Painted steel railings lead to the front door, which is covered in sheets of copper. 'We added portholes throughout, which added a nautical theme,' says Nelson."

The windows on the back of the house are garage doors that open out to the water...this is obviously my favorite part of the home.

The un-finished columns and staircase design add to the industrial look with built-ins nodding to a ships cabin.

The skylight is a great way to bring in a ton of  natural light to the interior upstairs hallway.

The guest bath has beautiful tile mosaic walls and a clear glass shower enclosure to keep the space open and airy.

Although, I would prefer a garden and lounge area on the roof, some would prefer a putting green, and this is exactly what they did, why not?

winter wedding wednesday!

It's time to discuss the wedding dress, one of my favorite parts.  Casie is hoping for a fuller skirt but seems to be pretty open other than that.  In order to help her out I put together a bunch of dresses that reminded me of her to see if she sees a style she can't live without.

Love the simplicity and of course the pockets!

Swap the beach scene for a winter scene, obviously.  Again, great simplicity
(and pockets) and I love the neckline on this dress, no necklace needed.

This is more A-line than the ball
gown that Casie loves but the delicate
sleeves on this dress are gorgeous.

I like this shape for Casie.  She is very petite and
this dropped waste will show how adorably tiny she is
while she still gets the full skirt she wants.

This dress has a great wispy feeling and even though
there is a lot of fabric here it still feels light and airy.

And of course, while outside in the winter during the
ceremony, a wrap should help with the cold temperature.

Here is more full cape...it would keep her
warmer and be a great prop for photos later.

I had to add this one in...although this isn't the perfect fit for Casie, I just
loved the vintage quality to the long sleeved lace dress and fur shawl.

What a great idea to hep with the cold while outside and
easily removed for the inside dance party to come later
in the evening.
It's always fun to dream and it's smart to go into the dress fittings with an idea of the style you like but sometimes you never know what you end up with!  I certainly had one idea of what I wanted my dress to look like and ended with a completely different style.  Looking forward to the dress shopping to come with my sis!  I will keep everyone updated along the process, thanks for your comments!

pink rooms?

Gone are the days of mauve rooms (hello pink house of my childhood), but what about pink?

What do you think?  Would you want a room centered around this color?
