new ideas for your winter wear

Today Refinery 29 posted an article on new ways to update your winter wardrobe.  I like these ideas because they are simple and you already should have most items in your closet.  Just some new ways to slightly switch things up!

Wear a cuff on the outside of your sweater.

Dress up a basic sweater dress by adding a sheer shirt
dress underneath.

Knot the ends of your scarves for a new look and a way
to add weight to your thinner scarves.

Add a pair of opaque tights and a boxy sweater to your
short summer pants.

Where a turtleneck like a statement necklace.

eclectic elegance

As I was perusing Houzz this weekend I came across an article about a home in Dallas and it caught my eye...

 

This is such a unique mix of pieces I love the use of the black wall, it grounds a lot of look.

Very eclectic, this house looks like it has taken years to collect every piece.

The bookshelves in the background are great painted white with black interiors.

I love what they did with this hallway and of course the chevron rug.

Such a great green color!

Architecturally, this room is awesome.  Glass walls, ceiling. and a glass floor is pretty cool you have to admit.   But really, who is going to sit on a cold hard glass floor and read a newspaper?  As an interior designer I would fill this room with cozy sofas and beautiful tailored greenery, the perfect room for an afternoon nap in the sun especially in winter.  What would you do with this room?

dream bathroom



This is my bathroom in heaven!

holiday wrapping

Hello!  I took a nice hiatus last week but I am back this week ready to go!  In preparation for all the holiday wrapping right around the corner houzz put out a great article with some creative package dressing ideas and I had to share my favorites!

In the article they show you how to print this wrapping paper yourself,
but I like this image more for the three simple wrapping papers chosen to
coordinate.

Why go with the standard reds and greens, these papers switch things up
a bit.

Creative wrapping out of magazine pages.

This idea I really love.  Take inexpensive kraft paper to wrap the present,
cut some snowflakes out of colored paper and use basic string to tie it all up! 

This wrapping paper is really great, I might have to get my hands on some.

Simple...you just need string and some great wrapping paper and the
package looks great.

winter wedding wednesday

If you don't already know I am doing a winter wedding post every Wednesday in honor of my sister in law getting married this February.  Casie's engagement photos are scheduled to be taken this weekend and I came across some adorable ideas other people have done for their engagement shots.
