dining pendant

Since we moved into the house the fixture over the dining table has always driven me crazy.  The fixture itself is ok but I wanted something a bit more modern and unique.  This is when I found a gorgeous oversized drum pendant that I fell in love with from Robert Abbey.

I finally made the purchase and installed it over the dining table versus centered in the room (Still need to install a cover plate over the hole left behind)

I think it's simple yet makes a statement, what do you think?  I should have taken this picture at night with a camera (not my phone) for a better comparison but you get the idea :).

floor poufs

For whatever reason I seem to be obsessed with floor poufs lately.  If you don't know what a floor pouf is get ready to be in love...

They can be used as a cocktail table...

an ottoman...

extra seating...

a bright accent to add a pop of color to the room and function as all of the above!

banquette

I love this Dining Banquette, it adds such drama to this space!  This Dining area looks like it has pieces that have been collected over the years and layered versus picked out of a catalog in one sitting.   I am attempting to add this "lived in" feel to a hotel I am currently working on.

Home Office

I just so happen to be looking into home office ideas, take a look at what I have come across lately...

Love this one for basement office ideas!

I like that this one is all built in, it feels substantial but not
overpowering in this small space

This is more the way my job actually ends up working
so this appealed to me, I do love organized bins and
layout tables!

Anyone have an extra closet?  Make it an office!

More of an organized station but would work really well
in a kitchen.
*sorry to say these images came from my inspiration file and I can't credit anyone for their great work, my apologies but if anyone knows where they came from let me know!

bunk beds

I am clearly obsessed with sleeping right now but as I was finding beds yesterday I came across these bunk beds and they reminded me of this book about a family of bears and it pictured where all the beds slept.  I stared at this page forever and loved the idea of having a little cozy alcove bed.  These reminded me of being a kid...

bed

As the weather is getting cooler and the days become shorter it has been harder and harder for me to get out of my bed in the mornings.  Which of these beds do you wish you could crawl into right now?

kitchens

I had a request for kitchen ideas, and I just so happen to have a few that I absolutely love.  They are from an inspiration file that I keep and when I see an image that I like I save it...I just don't remember where they came from!  It's terrible I can't give credit where credit is due but they are too great to not pass on.
These chevron wood floors are heaven

I like to call this modern farmhouse.  I like the subway tile back splash that continues to the ceiling with the huge crown moulding.

Could do without the seashell sconce but everything else is very pretty.  I thought the idea of bringing the breakfast nook into the kitchen was a great way to make the kitchen feel more soft and cozy.

Again, floors to die for and I also like the stark contrast of white counter tops with ebony cabinets.
I really like the island with the cube bar stools in this photo

This one was a recent find so I can give some credit.  love love and love this one.

restoration hardware

As I'm sure most of you have, I just received the Restoration Hardware Fall 2011Source Book.  Typically Restoration Hardware overall is a little too "traditional" for me, I can find a few good pieces but it never really was a huge draw for me design wise.  But as I was flipping through this massive book I found a few inspiring rooms that I had to share in case you were left off this mailing list...
Ok so there is a lot going on here but I like the play with scale.  Although the sofa is very tufted it's simple in shape and low to the ground which works with the large tailored collage of artwork above.  I even like the scale of the large chandeliers hanging low to the ground instead of using end table lamps.  Overall I think this is a very creatively done room.

I like the masculinity in this room, especially the very modern chaise's done in a warn leather to make them look lived in and comfortable.

Again, there is a lot going on here but I like the symmetry and love the floor lamps.

It would be fun to design a bar like this, again masculine, but this room has more of a simplicity which I am typically drawn to and also very industrial.

Love!  Gray and white, my favorite.

my home

It's almost coming up on the one year anniversary of our new-ish home.  I came accross some photos of what the house looked like before we moved in and how it looks now, I love the changes...said in the most modest way possible.

THE BEFORE PHOTOS:
bare with me, it gets better...

living room
clearly this was staging furniture

 fireplace/dining
loved the wood floors...hated the light yellow walls

dining room
I do like the fact that they have barstools at the bar.  I guess I need to add barstools to the "to shop for" list, I feel like this list should be getting smaller but it's just not.

kitchen
You won't see any after pictures of the kitchen because it's basically the same but with gray walls.  The kitchen was fully remodeled prior to us purcahsing the home so although we would have done it differently it's not changing at this point.
